When genius strikes, it sometimes doubles up in thunder quantity. Such is
the case with Next Life, a two piece out of Norway. Hai Nguyen Dinh and
Tormod Christensen make music that is full of self-referential gobble. Are
they making real death metal or are they messing with our brains and putting
across computer mash-ups of what real metal is supposed to sound like? But
wait, these two can actually play their instruments - guitars and synths.
This means their live shows must really rock [check out the live video clip
enclosed on this disc]. Most of the tracks on their debut "Electric
Violence" run between a mere 19 seconds blurb to a longish 5 minute odyssey.
This is the real deal. Not unlike the hardest, heaviest metal shit you
remember from your long-hair days from the 80's, these two just keep
pounding their stuff out. There's no disrespect shown for the true art-form
that was once [and still is] metal. They're doing it for the kids of today
who hunger for the perfect moment to raise their fists in the air and
rock-out! Question is, are you really ready for Next Life?
