Put together by IntimDJ Cpt. Schneider, HeavyBreathing series of CDs is a
collection of four little gems guaranteed to turn you on. The last two
instalments in the series continue to present music that is as delightful to
the touch as it is to the ears. If the credo behind this series is
"Passionate groaning, noisy hyperventilation and orgiastic screaming", then
I'm signing up for active duty.
"Stop It!" goes at the whole sex game from a wide open perspective. Is it
any wonder that Khan, Chris & Cosey, Kevin Blechdom, Sven Vath, Stereo MC's,
and Twink share the same space? James White & The Blacks entertaining
"Stained Sheets" has aged quite well over the last two decades, while Chris
& Cosey's "Infectus" maybe hasn't aged so well, but with its erotic
landscape, still serves its seductive purpose. Sven Vath's version of
Gainsbourg's classic "Je t'aime?.Moi non plus" is simply a goof-off version.
But wait, once Miss Kittin steps into the spotlight, I start to feel a
little twinkle building up. While Los Chicharrons' "Summer Fever" is some
heavy panting music laid on top of a nice soul track, Sex Acts and Orgies'
"First Sexual Touch" goes a bit deeper. Though it has a slowly revolving
beat and some nice heavy breathing, clocking at just under 4 minutes, it's
really not enough to build up the proper atmosphere. Album ends on a high
note, with Tagaq's ultra quiet "Still", where every word sounds like poetry.
If this Inuit throat singer's tune doesn't get you all wet, then I don't
know what will.
While "Stop It!" was a mix bag of styles, "Touch Me!" revels in the more
straight-forward dance category. Even still, the tunes turn out to be
revelatory in their sensuality and their ability to give the most frigid
person some red blood flowing in their erogenous zones. Theme for this
volume is "do music machines have sex when connected together?" Dare I say
it, a lot of the tracks on here are glorified disco and you know me, I love
disco in most of its funky permutations [though my preference still lies in
the classic 70's stuff]. Röyksoop remix of "Sexy Love" as done by Anneli
Drecker is a joyful tune that ultimately just flutters its wings high up in
the sky. You've got to admit, there's nothing better for good, sweaty sex
than some light stuff. Last thing I want to put on while in bed is some
heavy-duty political opus that in the end will just piss me off and ruin the
atmosphere altogether. Travelling Virgins' "F**k That P***y" turns out to
be a hard-core drilling acid number, where the title is simply repeated over
and over again. Thick Dick's acid drenched "Orgasm" is completely
satisfying, while Brazilian singer Gretchen and her 1979 classic "Freak Le
Boom Boom" makes you want to moan, scratch and go wild all over again. Best
part about both compilations is their continuity. If you don't particularly
like one tune, another great one will be just around the corner to satiate
your hunger. I'm getting all red just listening to this stuff.
